Todd Butts
Coming from the world of newspaper and radio, I have been covering NASCAR and other motorsports for over 8 years.
I started as the host of Pit Stop Radio, an internet NASCAR-news show, from 2000 - 2005 on the BroadcastMonsters.com online radio network. Along with my co-host Scott Wasilewski, we were on the air two hours a week taking a fun, if sometimes unusual, look at the world of motorsports, NASCAR in particular.
From there, I moved into Radio - producing and hosting a syndicated NASCAR-news program that is currently heard twice a week on various stations across the country. That program is now in its sixth season on the air.
My motorsports writing career started as an opinion columnist for Catchfence.com, one of the premier NASCAR news sites on the web. Back together with Scott Wasilewski, we wrote an innovative (and sometimes irreverant) weekly article called Two Laps Down, where we teamed up to give our opinions on the latest happenings in NASCAR.
Having discovered a great new outlet to talk about the sport (writing), I searched out new opportinutues, and became the motorsports columnist for the Baltimore Examiner newspaper, writing The Fast Lane - a weekly news-opinion column, where I not only covered the latest NASCAR news, but also interviewed some of the biggest drivers in the sport.
After three years writing for the Examiner, unfortunately the economy caught up with the paper, and it went out of print (and online only) in 2009. That led me here to Suite101 - where I can not only continue to write about NASCAR, but expand into new areas that I have always wanted to write about - including motorcycle racing, automobiles and green technology!
In addition to my experience in motorsports, I actually have a degree in music perrformance from the University of Maryland, along with an Asian Studies Certificate (specializing in literature and history). Before my time in radio and journalism, I was a professional musician and music teacher.
Thanks for reading my work!
